AMD Announces Retail Launch and Pricing for Radeon AI PRO 9000 Series GPUs

AMD has officially revealed the retail release date and pricing for its highly anticipated Radeon AI PRO 9000 series graphics cards, designed for demanding professional visualization and AI workstation workloads. The flagship model, the Radeon AI PRO R9700, will be available to retailers starting October 27, with a suggested price of $1,299.

Expanding Access for Professionals and Enthusiasts

Until now, AMD’s professional-grade GPUs were primarily available through OEMs and system integrators, limiting options for individuals and businesses building custom workstations. The new retail availability of the Radeon AI PRO 9000 series addresses this gap, offering advanced AI and visualization capabilities directly to professionals and enthusiasts. Although AMD initially planned a retail launch by the end of July, high demand from OEMs and integrators led to supply constraints and a delayed rollout.

Technical Specifications and Performance

The Radeon AI PRO R9700 is built on AMD’s advanced 4 nm "Navi 48" GPU architecture, featuring 64 RDNA 4 compute units and a total of 4,096 stream processors. The card is equipped with 128 dedicated AI accelerators, significantly enhancing matrix operations and accelerating AI workloads across a range of data formats.

One of the standout upgrades over the gaming-focused RX 9070 XT is the expanded memory capacity. The Radeon AI PRO R9700 offers 32 GB of high-speed GDDR6 memory, doubling the capacity of its gaming counterpart. This memory runs at 20 Gbps across a 256-bit interface, delivering an impressive 640 GB/s of bandwidth, further supported by a 64 MB 3rd Generation Infinity Cache for optimized data access.

In terms of raw performance, the Radeon AI PRO R9700 achieves up to 191 TeraFLOPS of FP16 dense compute and up to 1,531 TOPS of INT4 sparse performance, making it a powerful solution for AI training, inference, and complex visualization tasks. The card operates within a 300 W power envelope and features a dual-slot design with a blower-style cooler, enabling efficient cooling in dense, multi-GPU workstation configurations.

Optimized for Professional Workstations

The Radeon AI PRO 9000 series is engineered for professionals who require robust performance, reliability, and scalability. With support for up to four cards in a single workstation, users can build high-density systems tailored for advanced AI research, 3D rendering, and other compute-intensive applications.

With the upcoming retail launch, AMD is broadening access to its latest professional GPU technology, empowering a wider range of users to leverage cutting-edge AI and visualization capabilities in their custom-built workstations.
