NVIDIA Removes GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Founders Edition from Online Storefronts

NVIDIA has recently withdrawn its GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Founders Edition graphics cards from its official online stores worldwide. This change impacts major markets, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France. Currently, in the US, only the GeForce RTX 5070 Founders Edition remains available directly from NVIDIA, and it comes bundled with a complimentary copy of Borderlands 4. The higher-end RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Founders Edition models are no longer listed, with only third-party (AIB) versions now offered. A similar pattern is observed in the UK, while in France and Germany, only the RTX 5070 and RTX 5080 Founders Editions are available, with the RTX 5090 Founders Edition notably absent.

Possible Reasons Behind the Removal

The sudden disappearance of these flagship graphics cards has led to speculation within the tech community. One theory suggests that NVIDIA may be preparing for a mid-cycle refresh, potentially introducing the RTX 50 SUPER series. This strategy could help the company manage inventory and avoid surplus stock of non-SUPER models, particularly the RTX 5070 and RTX 5080, which are rumored to be next in line for the SUPER upgrade.

However, the complete absence of the RTX 5090 Founders Edition from all global stores is unusual, especially considering the strong demand and NVIDIA’s record-breaking gaming revenue. An End-of-Life (EOL) announcement for these high-end models seems unlikely at this stage. Another plausible explanation is an inventory adjustment, where NVIDIA may have allocated a significant portion of its Founders Edition stock to retail partners, resulting in limited availability on its own platform.

As of now, the Founders Edition lineup on NVIDIA’s official online stores is as follows:

  • United States: Only the RTX 5070 Founders Edition is available, bundled with Borderlands 4.
  • United Kingdom: Similar to the US, only the RTX 5070 Founders Edition is listed.
  • Germany and France: Both regions offer the RTX 5070 and RTX 5080 Founders Editions, but the RTX 5090 Founders Edition is missing.
