Intel and AMD's Latest Chips at CES 2025
Both Intel and AMD are expected to release new high-performance mobile chips at CES 2025. Intel's Team Blue will unveil the Core Ultra 200H and 200HX lineup, while AMD's Team Red will introduce the Strix Halo products, some of which have already been leaked with promising performance. In addition to these high-end offerings, both companies are also planning to release mid-range and budget options.
Intel has already revealed its Raptor Lake-H Refresh-based Core 200H lineup, known as the Core Processor series. This lineup includes mostly rebadged Raptor Lake-H chips with some different choices. The products, based on the Intel 7 node, include the Core 9 Processor 270H with 14 cores and a boost clock of 5.8 GHz, as well as the Core 5 Processor 210H with 8 cores and a boost clock of 4.8 GHz. The lineup may be confusing for non-tech-savvy shoppers, as the Core 5 Processor 220H has more cores than the Core 7 Processor 240H, but the latter has more P-cores.
The Core 200H series from Intel does not feature the new graphics architecture, sticking with the Raptor Lake-era iGPUs instead of the Intel Arc advantages. Consumers will soon have to navigate laptops with three different architectures being shipped simultaneously - Lunar Lake (Core Ultra 200V), Meteor Lake (Core Ultra 200U), Raptor Lake (Core Processor 200H/U), and Arrow Lake (Core Ultra 200H/X). This complexity may make laptop shopping more challenging for those unfamiliar with the technology.
