Lenovo has been working on a new version of its Legion Go handheld device, which has been popular among gamers. The upcoming device, rumored to be called Legion Go S 8ARP1, is expected to be a more affordable option compared to the current Legion Go. Recent leaks from Roland Quandt, Windows Central, and WinFuture have revealed more details about the Legion Go S, including images, specifications, and a potential price.
According to the leaks, the Legion Go S will come with some significant hardware changes. It will feature a slightly smaller eight-inch display with a resolution of 1920 × 1200p and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The detachable controllers seen in the current Legion Go will be replaced by a white unibody design in the Legion Go S. One of the most interesting aspects of the leaks is the new AMD APU that will power the device. The AMD Ryzen Z2G is expected to have an unusual core configuration with an AMD Radeon 680M iGPU and Zen 3+ cores.
The Legion Go S is positioned between the current Legion Go and devices with the AMD Ryzen Z1. It aims to compete with products like the Steam Deck OLED, which is expected to have a similar price point. According to reports from WinFuture, the Legion Go S will cost around €600 (~$635) when it launches early next year, making it more affordable than the original Legion Go and the Steam Deck OLED at launch.
The Legion Go S is expected to be a more conventional handheld gaming PC, similar to devices like the ASUS ROG Ally and Valve Steam Deck. It will have a larger screen size and a 55 Wh battery, potentially offering longer play times compared to the current Legion Go.
